In a first collaboration with my mother, we continue to send cellphone pictures of local signage to each other from our present locations. We each occupy a surreal landscape, still learning how to explain home in spite of our age. The dreamlike quality of seeing signs that read “west” over “south” remind me that I am far from where I spent my childhood.
